Personal Information
WristTopo has no accounts, no sign-ins, and no profiles. No personally identifiable information is collected. No advertising IDs are used, and there is no cross-app tracking.
Location Data
Your location is used to show your position on the map, center the map, and provide navigation. It is not stored on any server, and no record of where you've been is kept outside the app.
The external services described below necessarily receive what they need to fulfill the request (the coordinates of the map sections you view, route waypoints, or search text), but they do not receive an identifier that ties those requests to you.
Health Data
On Apple Watch, WristTopo reads workout metrics from Apple Health (heart rate, distance, energy, cadence, elevation) to display your live stats during a workout, and writes the completed workout back to Apple Health when you finish.
Health data is never transferred to a third party. It is kept within the app or in your personal HealthKit store, according to your permission choices.
Recorded Routes and Offline Maps
Recorded tracks, planned routes, and downloaded offline maps are stored locally on your device.
If you are signed into iCloud, your routes and offline map regions sync across your Apple devices through Apple's private CloudKit database. The data is encrypted and lives in your personal iCloud account; no one outside that account has access to it.
Third-Party Services
The map sections you view, including elevation data, are loaded from MapTiler and Mapbox. WristTopo does not attach any personal information to these requests.
Route planning and place search requests include the route waypoints you set or the text you type into the search bar.
In-app purchases and subscriptions are managed by RevenueCat. Purchase events are sent under an anonymous identifier and are not linked to your identity.
Usage statistics from the app are sent to TelemetryDeck, and crash and error diagnostics to Sentry, used only to diagnose problems and improve the app. Neither service receives personal information, and neither can trace events back to you. Both store their data in the EU under GDPR-compliant terms.
Mapbox's own usage analytics are disabled by default. You can re-enable them from the map's attribution button if you wish.
This website (wristtopo.app) uses TelemetryDeck for the same privacy-friendly analytics: aggregate page views and anonymous interaction events like which buttons get tapped, with no advertising identifiers and nothing that can trace activity back to you. The only cookie it stores is a strictly-functional one that remembers your chosen language; it holds no identifier and is never used for tracking.
Your Controls
- Location services can be turned on or off in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.
- iCloud sync can be turned on or off in Settings → [your name] → iCloud → WristTopo.
- HealthKit permissions can be managed in the Health app → Sharing → Apps.
- Deleting the app removes all locally stored data.
Changes to This Policy
This policy may change as WristTopo evolves. The latest version is always available within the app.
